President Trump announced this Wednesday that he has signed his promised executive order which would temporarily suspend immigration to the United States during the coronavirus pandemic for at least 60 days.
The president said this during a coronavirus taskforce briefing at the White House.”In order to protect our great American workers, I’ve just signed an executive order temporarily suspending immigration into the United States, This will ensure that unemployed Americans of all backgrounds will be first in line for jobs as our economy reopens.”
So who exactly does this executive order impact or apply to
The order will affect thousands of citizens seeking to immigrate to the United States also affected is the diversity visa lottery that issues about 50,000 visas each year, and green card holders in the United States will be prevented from reuniting with their spouses abroad.
But it does not apply to immigrants already in the country, nor to those seeking temporary visas, including students or guest workers like farmers.

Other exceptions include health care professionals and their families as well as people in the EB-5 program
How will this order affect the economy?. This might not affect the US economy for now but if it persists, in the long run, it might really negatively affect the US economy in many areas
Trump has faced more than a few criticisms from immigration rights groups. Andrea Flores, deputy policy director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s equality division, had this to say about the new move: “Unfortunately, President Trump seems more interested in fanning anti-immigrant flames than in saving lives. We cannot allow President Trump to exploit this pandemic to advance his racism and xenophobia.”
